Transit of Mercury 2016

Monday morning May 9th, the planet Mercury will pass in front of the sun for about 6 hours.

Assuming we have clear skies, it should be visible in its entirety.

Public Observing Session Friday April 8th

Wednesday, April 6th, 2016

At Darling Hill Observatory starting at 7:00 PM

In the event of inclement weather, we will go over operation of the telescope.

 

Observing Tonight (Sept 19th) at DHO

Open for all. Sunset is around 7:07 PM and full darkness is around 8:42.

Will be quite cool (think full winter dress for new visitors).

 

Occultation of Saturn by the Moon Sunday August 31st

Tuesday, July 29th, 2014

An occultation of Saturn by the moon will be visible in Syracuse on August 31st from around 13:32 to 13:57. I don’t know how it will look in daylight.
