So You Have a New Scope… Now What?

Sunday, January 6th, 2019

Did you get a new telescope over the holiday?  Maybe a gift from someone who loves you.  Maybe a gift from you! Maybe something that you’ve had for a while… Or maybe something you have yet to purchase! Would you like someone to show you how to get stars in the eyepiece?  Then this event is for you!

Astronomers from the Syracuse Astronomical Society will be on-hand to help you understand how to find interesting things to observe in the night sky using your equipment.  Bring your equipment and your questions to the Community Library of Dewitt and Jamesville at 5110 Jamesville Rd, Jamesville, NY 13078 on Saturday January 12th between 1 and 4 PM.  This event is for all ages, and is free to all.

Welcome 2019!

2019 New Year’s Toast

Monday, December 24th, 2018

2019 is on the horizon and we have tons of stuff planned!  It all starts on Tuesday 1/1/2019 with our annual New Year’s Day toast at Darling Hill Observatory.  Join us at noon on 1/1/2019 for a toast to start off the new year.  Please note that our driveway will likely be snowed in this time of year, so we will be parking on Strong Road and walking to the observatory.  If the snow is deep you might want to bring snow shoes.  Dress warm for the walk!  We’ll be sure to crank up the heat in the observatory.  See you there!

Saturday, November 10th, 2018
Don’t forget to bring out that old telescope that’s been sitting in your basement for a tuneup! Do you have an old scope that needs some attention to get it in serviceable shape? Are you considering buying a scope as a gift or for yourself in the near future? Do you have a scope that you could never figure out how to use or to get those pesky starts into the eyepiece of?
Come out to the Community Library of Dewitt and Jamesville located at 5110 Jamesville Rd, Jamesville, NY 13078 today 11/10/2018 between 1PM and 4PM. Astronomers from the Syracuse Astronomical Society (SAS) will be on hand with telescopes set up and tools on-hand. This event is free to all.
