As the Earth orbits the Sun, different parts of the night sky come into view. Ancient people named patterns of stars to make them recognizable and to communicate spiratual and celestial information to others and to their children. The constellations are useful for astronomers for many of the same reasons–to provide an easy way to talk about celestial objects and their location in the sky. We’ve compiled a list of constellations and interesting targets within them.
