SAS Members, Our group has been informed of a proposal, currently before the town of Homer, to build several LED billboards along I-81, not far from Darling Hill Observatory. Several members of our board of directors attended a town board meeting and I spoke against the proposal. I need not tell you what LED billboards would do to the dark skies around Darling Hill. The blinding lights would harm wildlife, distract drivers, lower property values and blight the whole area not to mention ruin the dark skies we all enjoy. Light Pollution
Some of you know that I have been taking way too many subs of M101 recently. If you don’t want to know what I learned about light pollution filters, then just skip to the fourth photo and enjoy M101. The idea was to see how well the Baader Light Pollution Moonglow filter with IR cut works. I was also wanting to compare taking shorter subs (60-90 seconds) at 240 gain with longer guided subs at 90 gain.
