Greetings fellow astrophiles, The weather is not on our side this evening, with small patches of light blue surrounded by considerable higher haze and dark clouds. As the predictability of reasonable conditions tonight is in question, we will not be opening for tonight. Worse still, tomorrow looks similarly bad, but we will keep track of conditions and hope for changes in the forecasts.
Greetings fellow astrophiles! Image from www.waymarking.com. The SAS is hosting a lecture/observing session at Beaver Lake Nature Center next Wednesday, Oct. 19 (with a rain date of Friday, Oct. 21). We don’t observe with Syracuse to our South very often, so hopefully the tree line is low enough to give us clear new views of our Northern Horizon. Greetings fellow astrophiles! It’s for our nearest celestial neighbor, it’s one of the many reasons why we’re here, and the skies are supposed to be crystal clear tonight. We’ll be opening Darling Hill tonight for the “International Observe The Moon Night” (www.observethemoonnight.org) and, if we’re extra lucky, we’ll catch as much of the Draconid Meteor Shower as our precious Moon won’t wash out with its reflected brilliance. This is a general Public Viewing as well, so we hope to see everyone there at some point tonight. Dress for cold!
